Xtreme Quakerism: Mind, Body, Spirit
Workshop # 45
Peterson Toscano & Kri Burkander
This dynamic, interactive workshop will help to deepen your faith, nurture your spirit, share your heart, and get (re)energized to be a radical Quaker in the world. Through games, movement, worship, art, writing, drama, and more, we'll build a loving community and listen deeply to each other and the Spirit.

Full Description
Expectations and Objectives:
- Everyone will try their hand at the activities even if they seem silly at first
- Laughter
- Honest sharing in safe spaces
- That everyone feels heard
- That everyone gets challenged
- That we explore many levels of our faith
- To dip into the past to explore both Biblical and Quaker texts in creative ways
Topics we will cover:
- Personal spirituality
- Expression of faith through movement, art, words and silence
- The discernment process—How do I know what Spirit is saying to me and the group?
- Activism rising out of faith and practice
- Faith and Relationships
- What does faith look like?
Format:
Each day the group will gather for a series of activities facilitated by Kri and Peterson. As often as possible, we will go outside to conduct activities that will include creative worship experiences (meeting for worship with attention to graffiti, etc), creative text analysis with the use of drama and art, games, small group discussions and activities and snacks (of course snacks!)
Recommendations for Advanced Reading, or Reading Assignments:
- Read the Gospel of Mark in a modern translation. This is not required but it will be helpful and somehow record your reactions to the text
Suggested items to bring to the Gathering:
- music--bring three of your favorite songs on CD or mp3 player/ipod
