Description
Short Description:

We will walk on trails and explore the prairies, fields, wetlands and woods in local natural areas, read short, themed writings on the natural world, and have worship-sharing and journal writing time daily. We will carpool to local parks and nature preserves.

Long Description:

Each day we will gather to carpool to a local natural area for our walking meditations. We will likely stay on Campus the first day of the workshop. We will have a themed reading and time to journal and worship daily. Participants should be comfortable with walking for 90 minutes or 3 miles.

Participants will reflect on the readings, use them to enhance their experience walking in nature and share their reflections in worship sharing. Particular emphasis on the themes of outer and inner light will be explored. Participants will be encouraged to share their knowledge of the natural world through flora and fauna identification when appropriate.

Participants should be prepared to walk in inclement weather with comfortable walking shoes and bring a journal, water bottle and outerwear. A light day pack, walking stick, binoculars and cameras are optional.

worship/journaling 20 minutes
