Description
Short Description:

Douglas Steere wrote, “To listen another's soul into a condition of disclosure and discovery may be almost the greatest service that any human being ever performs for another...” We will explore how we can teach and practice the process of clearness to weave community and welcome each soul.

Long Description:

In his book, A Hidden Wholeness, Parker Palmer writes that a circle of trust is a group of people who knows how to sit quietly "in the woods with each other and wait for the shy soul to show Up." This workshop will offer a safe space to practice the process of clearness and discernment, and to consider how we can better use this process to build our meeting community. We will begin each morning with worship sharing on the writings of Quakers and others. This will be followed by time for journaling, poetry and reflection to help us create a circle of trust in this workshop. Each day will also include the practice of skills for the clearness process. Topics include: Living with integrity; Integrating who we are with what we do; Asking open, honest questions; Finding a third way in response to violence; Practice and teaching of clearness process . Everyone is encouraged to read A Hidden Wholeness by Parker Palmer.
