Quaker History Skit at FGC Gathering 2009

A Short History of Quakerism in 10 easy parts from Friends General Conference on Vimeo.

Hey Friends,

Some of you may remember the awesome skit that Maya Wright wrote for the 2008 Young Adult Friends' Conference.
We are excited to announce that it will be performed at the opening plenary of the 2009 Gathering of Friends!

Anyone is welcome and encouraged to re-perform this skit, with or without alterations. Enjoy! In peace, Emily

This slideshow accompanies the script.

Enjoyed this skit as it

Enjoyed this skit as it brings the Young Adults into the spotlight and they seem to be having a great time and created much joy and laughter for Friends and their friends.

Perhaps that 10th slide could have not implied that all young friends are followers of Jesus. There are many Friends who are not Christocentric, especially in the FGC unprogrammed monthly and yearly meetings.

Also, I would have liked one more slide that would have honored the "Schism" created in the 20th and 21st century over the recognition of Friends who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transexual and Queer. Happily, the Testimony on Equality now seems to be including all people no matter their sexual orientation.

Thanks again for a fun show.

Blessings,
