Transportation
Let’s be Green!
While hoping to draw participation from all across the U.S. & Canada, we understand it might be hard to carpool or take the bus, but we would like to encourage everyone to reduce the environmental impact of their travel. We have an account with GoLoco, a site that will help Friends offer and share rides. Start your time of fellowship early by traveling with other Friends! Because it is a holiday weekend, flights are going to be pretty expensive, so we hope you will consider carpooling or taking the bus. If this is not possible, book your ticket as soon as you can! Note: If you are traveling from Canada, you need to have a passport.
Modes of Transit
Car
Do you need a ride? Are you driving? Would you like to carpool with other Friends? Please check out our carpool group on GoLoco at http://goloco.org/groups/1751
Bus
For Friends who plan to take a bus, the closest station is in Dayton, Ohio, which is one hour away from campus. There will be a shuttle that runs between 10 am – 7 pm on Friday, May 23 and between 12 - 5 pm on Monday, May 26. It will cost $25 roundtrip per person (taxis will cost ~80 each way). If you would like to be picked up by the shuttle, you can fill out the shuttle form after you register. More information is below.
Plane
Unless you have your own transportation to campus, you need to fly into the Dayton or Columbus, Ohio airports. There will be a shuttle from the Earlham School of Religion that can pick you up during certain hours on Friday and Monday that is much cheaper than taking a taxi. Please look at the hours the shuttle operates (below) before you book your flight. Once you register, you will receive a link to the shuttle form.
The ESR Shuttle
For those coming by bus or plane, please read the following information.
ESR’s shuttle service will operate between 10 am – 7 pm on Friday, May 23 and between 12 - 5 pm on Monday, May 26. Please be aware that you should arrive at the airport an hour before your flight, and the airports are 45 mins-2 hours away from Earlham’s campus.
Due to the distance to Richmond, Indiana from the airports, we do not recommend taking a taxi or other shuttle service from Dayton or Columbus, as it will cost between $150-300 round trip. If you would like to take the ESR shuttle, please be advised of the travel times and costs to Richmond, Indiana from the following places:
• Dayton International Airport: 45 mins. $25 roundtrip
• Dayton Bus Station: 1 hour. $25 roundtrip
• Columbus International Airport: 2 hours. $40 roundtrip
You must bring money or a check with you in order to board the shuttle.
