About Us

Mission and Purpose

Christina and RobinChristina and RobinThe mission and purpose of the Youth Ministries Committee is to advocate and work for a pluralistic, intergenerationally accessible community where all are encouraged to nurture, listen to, learn from and share in each other’s ministry. Our goal is a Religious Society of Friends in which age is not a defining criterion for ministry to be recognized, encouraged and attended to. We seek to evoke the voices of a variety of individuals at different stages of life. We intend to nurture and empower our monthly and yearly meetings to actively engage Quaker youth. We strive to be catalysts for a paradigm shift that allows us as a Religious Society to rekindle and spread the fire of our faith.

The goals of the Committee include:

  1. Support and encourage programs for youth at the monthly and yearly meeting levels
  2. Promote, support, and sponsor gatherings and events, intergenerational and within specific age groupings, that occur within and across yearly meeting lines
  3. Lift up and attend to the concern for supporting youth, spiritually and financially, as they go through life changes and transitions
  4. Name, support and encourage the ministry of youth.
  5. Promote movement toward incorporation of the contributions and ministry of our youth within their monthly and yearly meetings on their own merit and without particular attention to their age.
