  • If you are new to Zoom, please consider arriving a few minutes prior to 10:30am for assistance.
  • Attenders will be muted upon entry to the Meeting.
  • If you have a message to share, please unmute yourself using your Zoom controls. There is an unmute button visible on the bottom left-hand corner of the screen (phone users can press *6 to unmute/mute)

To minimize distractions on Zoom, please consider the following recommendations:

  • Place your camera in a stable position.
  • Make sure you are in the center of the screen and adequately lit.
  • Dress as you would for an in-person Meeting for Worship.
  • Refrain from multitasking (e.g., responding to notifications or phone calls, eating).

Attend in person:

  • If you are not vaccinated, we need you to wear a mask.  If you are vaccinated, please use your own discretion.
  • There will be a Friend in charge of the Zoom meeting and the A/V equipment.
  • The chairs will go back to their normal configuration. Friends can decide to socially distance as they feel comfortable.
  • The Meeting Room will be split between on-camera and off-camera sections (labeled)
  • Friends in-person will be using a wired microphone to give messages. We will have a microphone near the Zooming computer that will be used to give in-person messages
  • The A/C unit will be run as needed
  • At the moment, we will not have singing, coffee/tea/snacks, or childcare. The decisions to return to these activities will be made by the community as we are able to return to "normal"
  • As usual, we will have a facilitator. We’ll also have a person in charge of logistics.
  • The Library will re-open as usual, and books will not need to be quarantined.
  • The Worship Facilitator will usually also be on Zoom
  • Please allow a time of silence between messages.
  • The meeting will end with a verbal message from the Worship Facilitator
  • At the Rise of Meeting, we will follow our customary practice of introducing ourselves and sharing updates, concerns, “almost messages” or other reflections.

We are...

North Columbus Friends Meeting is a welcoming and inclusive Meeting of people seeking a personal and gathered experience of what has been called by a variety of names, such as God, the Inner Light, Truth, or the Transcendent. While Quakerism has its roots in Christianity, we understand that Truth may be spoken by people with a wide variety of backgrounds. We welcome those voices and invite people to share their inward experience of the Divine, whatever that may be.

We practice expectant waiting for the still, small voice within one another and ourselves. We strive to live in ways that reflect our inner experience of that wisdom. Often this coincides with common Quaker testimonies, such as equality, integrity, peace, community, simplicity, and stewardship of the natural world.

We publicly identify our Meeting as a place of refuge for our neighbors who might feel under threat. As Friends, we are committed to oppose discrimination and oppression in all forms. We strive to be inclusive of all people -- especially those who have historically been marginalized in our society.

We are open to participating in any ecumenical, interfaith and community events that promote unity, connection, dialogue and mutual respect; and oppose hate and division.

We invite you to join us on Sundays for singing at 10:30am and for Meeting for Worship at 10:45am to 11:45am. Welcome!

We want Friends to be able to meet for Meeting for Worship. The Meeting House will be open on Sunday, March 15 at 10:30am. We recognize that people may not wish to attend either because of their own health, their recent proximity to someone who may have been infected, or out of their concern for others whose health may be compromised.
