North Columbus Friends Meeting

COVID-19 RESPONSE UPDATE:

NCFM is moving online!  Meeting for Worship is held on Sundays, 10:30am – 11:30am online. We’ll continue this practice until restrictions are lifted and we can return to meeting in person.

Meeting for Worship will be held via Zoom. Use Meeting ID 338 182 853. Or launch the meeting directly from your web browser by using this web address https://zoom.us/j/338182853.

(If you don’t have access to the internet, you can join Meeting for Worship by phone, call 1-929-205-6099, and enter the Meeting ID when prompted. However, you won’t have a video link).

  • As usual, we will have a facilitator. We’ll also have a person in charge of logistics.
  • This week (and as needed on future weeks) there will be a 15 minute transition period 10:30 – 10:45. This will allow folks to sort out the logistics to login and settle into this new mode for Worship.
  • Attenders will be muted upon entry to the Meeting.
  • If you have a message to share, please unmute yourself using your Zoom controls. There is an unmute button visible on the bottom left-hand corner of the screen (phone users can press *6 to unmute/mute)
  • Please allow a time of silence between messages.
  • At the Rise of Meeting (at 11:30 this week), we will follow our customary practice of introducing ourselves and sharing updates, concerns, “almost messages” or other reflections.

To minimize distractions on Zoom, please consider the following recommendations:

1.  Place your camera in a stable position.

2.  Make sure you are in the center of the screen and adequately lit.

3.  Dress as you would for in-person Meeting for Worship.

4.  Refrain from multitasking (e.g., responding to notifications or phone calls, eating).

Contact us via email at [email protected] with questions or concerns.

We look forward to seeing you online!

We are...

North Columbus Friends Meeting is a welcoming and inclusive Meeting of people seeking a personal and gathered experience of what has been called by a variety of names, such as God, the Inner Light, Truth, or the Transcendent. While Quakerism has its roots in Christianity, we understand that Truth may be spoken by people with a wide variety of backgrounds. We welcome those voices and invite people to share their inward experience of the Divine, whatever that may be.

We practice expectant waiting for the still, small voice within one another and ourselves. We strive to live in ways that reflect our inner experience of that wisdom. Often this coincides with common Quaker testimonies, such as equality, integrity, peace, community, simplicity, and stewardship of the natural world.

We publicly identify our Meeting as a place of refuge for our neighbors who might feel under threat. As Friends, we are committed to oppose discrimination and oppression in all forms. We strive to be inclusive of all people -- especially those who have historically been marginalized in our society.

We are open to participating in any ecumenical, interfaith and community events that promote unity, connection, dialogue and mutual respect; and oppose hate and division.

We invite you to join us on Sundays for singing at 10:30am and for Meeting for Worship at 10:45am to 11:45am. Welcome!
