Early registration: April 2024

Family Housing

High Schoolers are all housed in the High School dorm. Most families choose General Housing (everyone is automatically assigned to General Housing unless they choose a cluster ). These families are housed together according to the age of their youngest child unless one child is a rising 7th, 8th or 9th grader in which case the family is housed with other families with 7th, 8th or 9th grade youth. Families may choose other clusters like the FLGBTQC cluster, the People of Color Cluster, or young adults with children 5 years or younger may choose the Adult Young Friends cluster. In each of these cases, families are less likely to be housed near similarly aged children.

Children on Floor

One child may sleep on the floor of a single room once the bed is paid for. Children sleeping on the floor must bring a bedroll, pillow, and towel.

Accessibility Needs

Please indicate your mobility limitations in the Accessibility portion of the Gathering registration form. If you have other specific housing needs, please be specific when you complete your registration. ADA rooms are available. If you have concerns about how your needs will be met, please contact the FGC office.

Housing Clusters

On your registration for the Gathering, you can indicate if you want to stay in General Housing, or in a housing cluster with others that have similar identities or interests. Below are descriptions of the Housing Clusters we are offering.

The availability of housing clusters may be impacted by COVID health and safety measures.

AYF Cluster (Adult Young Friendsis open to adults aged 18-35. You may participate in all of the AYF programs regardless of whether or not you live in the AYF Cluster. Families which include parents who identify as AYF and young children up to age 5 are welcome in the AYF Cluster. The AYF Cluster will include a gender-neutral housing block. Friends with concerns about accessing housing, bathrooms, or other Gathering facilities appropriate to their gender identity and expression are welcome to contact the Gender Diversity Liaison for information and support. This cluster will be in a dorm with hall bathrooms.

Contemplative Cluster – The Contemplative Cluster is a place for people intentionally seeking to deepen their spiritual life through contemplative practices such as worship, worship sharing, prayer, related study, and other opportunities for spiritual friendship.  If you desire contemplative living space and seek others who are similarly inclined, you may wish to choose this housing cluster and co-create a contemplative experience.  All are welcome who value your own sacred space and honor that of others. The dorm for this cluster has not been determined.

FLGBTQC Cluster (Friends for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Concerns) – Friends of all ages who support LGBTQ concerns are welcome to join the FLGBTQC housing cluster, including children. The FLGBTQC Cluster will include a gender-neutral housing block. Friends with concerns about accessing housing, bathrooms, or other Gathering facilities appropriate to their gender identity and expression are welcome to contact the Gender Diversity Liaison for information and support. The dorm for this cluster has not been determined.

  • Because fragranced products make some FLGBTQC Friends very ill, all who choose to be housed in this cluster should plan to use only fragrance-free personal products during Gathering week.

Fragrance-Free Cluster – There will be a Fragrance-Free cluster with fragrance-free bathrooms. Friends who choose this housing cluster agree not to use perfumes or scented personal or laundry products. Gathering staff will ask the University not to use conventional cleaning products during the Gathering in the bathrooms of these suites.  Friends with scent/chemical sensitivities may choose to bring their own bed linens. Read more information for Friends with allergies and chemical sensitivities.

High School Cluster – You must choose this cluster if you are in the High School program or a High School staff person. Please avoid early arrival by High School participants when possible, and read these early arrival policies for High Schoolers.

People of Color – Available to Friends of Color who choose this option, their roommates, and their family members who would like to be housed with other Friends of Color and their roommates or family members. Read about the optional pre-Gathering retreat for People of Color and their Families. The dorm for this cluster has not been determined.

Singles Cluster (i.e., unpartnered adults) – This cluster also welcomes adults who are attending the Gathering without their partner. Unpartnered young adults generally choose the Adult Young Friends (AYF) Cluster. The dorm for this cluster has not been determined.

Families –  Unless families choose one of the above clusters, they will be housed with other families. All High Schoolers will be in the High School dorm.
