October 2017 eNewsletters: Vital Friends and BookMusings

Each month, FGC is pleased to share resources and updates with Friends through our Vital Friends and BookMusings eNewsletters. Below are the introductions of both newsletters, each followed by a link to view the full eNewsletter online.

Vital Friends, October 2017: A New Approach

Dear Friend,

As the season of change progresses, we’re trying something new in our Vital Friends eNewsletter. In this issue, we’re featuring a smaller number of articles that prioritize important updates at FGC and resources that can help Friends and their meetings, including changes that are coming to QuakerBooks, a note about the retirement of Brent Bill, and resources for outreach that we hope Friends and their meetings can begin using immediately after reading them. We will post Vital Friends bonus articles on the FGC website, so be sure to visit FGCquaker.org, or follow us on Facebook and Twitter, to stay in the loop!

In the Spirit,
The Staff of FGC

BookMusings, October 2017: Books to “Fall” For

Dear Friend,

As autumn’s colors become deeper and more varied, it’s impossible not to feel our deep connection with the rest of nature. Through October’s suggested titles, we hope to encourage you to sink down into nature’s natural rhythms, and meditate on the many cycles to be found in Life and in our individual journeys. Then, rooted in that deep centeredness, we wish you continued growth on your path, connecting with others and reaching new heights in Spirit.

In this issue, we have an important update regarding changes that are coming to QuakerBooks over the next few months. FGC’s very own J. Brent Bill is our featured author this month, and Ellen Michaud reviews Holy Nation. As so many monthly meetings begin a new cycle of committee terms and return to more regular attendance in September/October, we’ve selected Quaker Process for Friends on the Benches as our Quaker contemporary classic this month. Enjoy!

Kindly,
Samantha Wilson
