Week 2: Deep Listening & Discernment

Week 3: The Light Working in Us

Week 4: Relationships & Spiritual Community

"This eRetreat has been a gentle reminder to 'wait to feel the Spirit' and listen more closely for it....This was a perfect combination of a mini retreat, communal sharing and learning experience." - Spiritual Deepening eRetreat participant

The Silence & Light eRetreat will be offered from January 19 - February 14, 2020.   Registration for this session has closed.

Weekly Community Building video calls are scheduled for Sundays at 7pm Eastern / 4pm Pacific / 2pm Hawaii, starting January 19.

The Silence & Light eRetreat will be facilitated by Michele Shields.

Michele Shields is a member of Honolulu Friends Meeting and a writer. After thirty-seven years of service as a pastor and hospital chaplain, she retired and is now the Director of Spiritual Care Services, Emerita, and Research Scholar at the University of California San Francisco Medical Center (UCSF Health). In Spiritual Care Research, Michele and her colleagues at UCSF Health further developed her theory of providing spiritual care, scientifically demonstrating spiritual growth trends in cancer patients even at the end of life. Michele enjoyed teaching clergy to be professional chaplains as well as teaching nursing and medical students about ethics, palliative care, patient communication, cultural humility, and end of life.

Her main interest now is becoming more rooted in the Inward Light and following leadings to grow spiritually to be of more service to others. Michele and her husband share an active outdoor life in a beautiful part of Creation. She looks forward to learning together in this eRetreat.
