First Congregational UCC
1126 SW Park Ave, Portland OR
Enjoy an evening of energizing music while supporting Project Voice, the immigrant rights program of the American Friends Service Committee. This program helps communities in Oregon and Washington create Rapid Response Teams and provides Know Your Rights trainings that empower immigrants and their allies to advocate for just immigration policies. Four performers will entertain and inspire you in this benefit concert. Anna Fritz, a member of our Meeting, is a cello-wielding activist folksinger and founding member of the Portland Cello Project. She sings original songs that touch on racial justice, spirituality, gender, and connection to the land. Jill Townley is a singer, songwriter, international student advisor and aspiring Quaker peacemaker. Mark Babson is a violinist, teacher and peace activist. And Bajo Salario, a non-profit collective band, explores the revolutionary musical traditions of Latin America and the experiences of migrant workers in the United States. Food and drink will be available for purchase. Co-sponsored by First Congregational UCC Church, Multnomah Friends Meeting and West Hills Friends Church.
